Does Medicare cover podiatrists?

In some cases, YES! This cover is for those patients with long term chronic conditions, such as diabetes, long term arthritis or vascular disease etc, and medicare will cover the majority of the cost.

You will need to contact your GP to see if you are eligible, and get the appropriate referral.

Do Private Health Funds cover Podiatrists and Orthotics?

Yes they do, but generally at the higher levels of cover, best is to contact your fund . We do have a hicaps machine which allows you to claim on the spot and you will then only need to pay the gap.

Do I need a referral?

No most patients, who come to the clinic as a private patient or who claim through their private health cover, do not require a referral.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card holders or Workers Compensation clients will need to present with a doctors referral at their first appointment.
