PACT® NAIL FUNGUS THERAPY

Cheltenham Podiatry are experts in the delivery of PACT® as a treatment for nail fungus.

What is PACT® TOE NAIL FUNGUS THERAPY?

A photodynamic antimicrobial therapy, this technology uses light to eliminate fungi, as well as bacteria and viruses.

As the first clinic in Australia to offer PACT, we have developed highly effective protocols for the delivery of this treatment. Our entire team has been trained in the application of technology, and we are pleased to offer it to our patients.

DIAGNOSIS OF NAIL FUNGUS INFECTIONS

The symptoms of nail fungus infections are distinctive, and visual methods are usually sufficient for diagnosis.

However, there are a few conditions that can replicate the signs of fungal nail infections (eg. psoriasis), so sending a sample to pathology may be needed to confirm diagnosis in some cases.

Alternatively, diafactory testing can be done in-house.

ABOUT PACT THERAPY

APPLICATION

PACT Nail Fungus Gel was developed specifically for application to toenails. It works in combination with exposure to light from a PACT MED light device.

Your podiatrist will first burr and remove any fungal infected nail tissue, then apply PACT Nail Fungus Gel to the affected nail. After 10 minutes, the light is applied. The procedure takes around 20 minutes.

Treatment PLans

In mild cases, clearing the infection can take up to 3 months. If the affected part of the nail fails to grow out, application can be repeated as necessary.

Moderate to severe cases require a different treatment plan. Our extensive experience in this procedure means we’ve developed expert techniques for combating more difficult cases.

Infected Ulcers/Wounds

PACT can also be used to combat bacteria and viruses, as well as fungal infections. This means it can be beneficial in the treatment of infected ulcers, and is especially useful where bacteria have become resistant to an antibiotic.

PACT does not lead to this type of resistance, as microorganisms cannot adapt to the specific chemical reaction it relies on.
